Should wolves be provided with food and is it allowed to do so?

Wolves are naturally cautious animals. Usually, they try to avoid potential hazards including humans. When a wolf is fed by a human, however, it is possible that it will associate humans with the receipt of food. This can lead to pushy and even bold behaviour, when food is no longer provided. Especially pups, that are more curious and naïve than adult wolves (like is the case with all young animals), can learn to find humans interesting through provision of food and approach them accordingly.

A wolf that actively turns to humans in search of food can be a source of danger. Therefore, luring or feeding wolves is prohibited.
