Short introduction to DBBW
The DBBW was created by request of the federal states’ environmental ministers in the framework of a Research and Development Scheme of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation due to the dynamic development of the wolf population. Consistent available nationwide data on wolf distribution and population development is key for proper management. Further, advice must be available for state authorities on short notice regarding wolves that show unusual behaviour. One main task of the project is the development and maintenance of this website. The project team started its work in February 2016, and completed the project successfully in August 2019.
After positive evaluation and on the explicit request of the federal states, the federal government has facilitated the continuation of DBBW. The project “Operation of DBBW” started in September 2019 and is expected to be running until summer 2025.
In the DBBW project there are no funds designated to counselling of the public, apart from this website. Therefore, please understand that questions regarding website content can neither be answered by phone nor by email.
If you are a journalist with questions that cannot be answered by the website, please contact the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation’s public relations department.
